On the 2nd and 3rd of December angler teams who qualified attended the Basstasstic Bass fishing X-FACTOR  Australian Bass teams Championship held at Somerset Dam. 21 teams in total turned up to try and take home the Tidal of the Australian bass Fishing Team. With some of the best anglers in country at the event  we all knew it was going to be a great event. On the Friday night the anglers were sold off in a Calcutta and some big money was outlaid on teams they though would get the biggest bags in total length. The draw was done to see who fished off against who on day one. Saturday session was hot and in session one seen some good fish measured -in. But its all about your best two bass overall in two sessions on day one to see who fishes in the cash pool and who is knocked out into the prize pool. Session two some very good fish were measured-in Steve Kanowski bought in a whopping 528 mm bass to the fork along with many more cracking sized bass from other teams. Saturday night teams were told who was in cash pool and who missed out and went into the Prize pool, there were very good prizes to be won and two of each prize so no team misses out in the end. Day Two everyone starts fresh in both sections apart from the 3 cash prizes for the best bags of 4 fish overall for weekend. Many fish were caught and some big ones on the Sunday session as the results show. All anglers had a great weekend at Somerset. Congratulations to Gary Mc Cabe of Brisbane and Team partner Gavin Sticklen from Gatton they won the crown of Australia's best Bass fishing Team and won $2,500 plus the special shirts that go with that title winners trophies and a Trevor's Leathers key rings with there winning total engraved on them which was 874 mm of bass caught,. they also won $800 in Calcutta backing themselves to win the event. Second place went to Team Legends made up off Freddie sawyer and Casey Blundell of the Gold Coast they had a great score of 867mm of bass caught and won $1,500 and second place trophies. Third place in cash was Team Mad Keen made up of Jason  and Mark Caneris of Ipswich they had a score of 829mm of Bass caught and won $1,000 in cash. Forth place went to Team Basstonaughts John Noble of Forest Hill and Andrew Carlyle of Chinchilla with a score of 819mm they won $800 in cash. Fifth place in cash was Team Tennessee made up off Steve Kanowski of Brisbane and John Brider of Logan Home with ascore of 817mm of bass caught and won $400 in cash . Steve Kanowski and John Brider won the biggest bag of bass caught for the weekend and took home the trophy and $500 cash their score for 4 fish was 1845mm Steve also took home the big bass Eva Kool award prize and the cash pool of $420

In prize section first place went to   Team Num Nuts Barry Reynolds of Nambour and Joe Hauzer of Caloundra they won with a score of 942mm and took home two Lews reels. Second place in prizes went to Legends Aust and  Warwick Outdoors made up of  Garry Harman  of Brisbane and Sean Haynes of Warwick with a score of 878mm ,they won two lowrance sounders. Third place went to Team Barra Jacks ,Steve Otto and Gavin Lightbody of the Sunshine coast . They had a score of 871mm and won the two $100 BCF vouchers . Forth place in prize section went to Team R-U-Fishing made up of Toby Gibson and Corey Gear of Toowoomba. They had a score of 867mm  and took home two 78lt Eva Kool Mate Ice boxes. 5th place was Team Eva Kool made up of Farther and son team   Russell and David Nowland of Monto.   they had ascore of 783 mm and won the Redarc inverters prizes. Sixth place in prizes went to Team Ginger and the big man Ben Jensen and Clinton Nowland of Monto with a score of 729mm they won two Maikuro Shimano rods. Seventh place went to Team Magnet Father and Daughter team Dave and Monah Thomas of Brisbane with a score of 354mm . They won two BBQ's for their efforts. eighth place wen to Team Last cast wonders made up of David Bullard of Camira and Michael Lindermayer of Mount Sylina had a score of 307mm and won two Shimano Rack Raider rods. It all starts again in February 2018 at Boondooma dam with round one of this years qualifying rounds .
