CALLUM MUNRO WINS BASSTASSTIC GOLDEN PRO-ANGLER BASS FISHING GRAND FINAL

Sunshine Coast Angler, Callum Munro, won the 2011 Basstasstic Golden pro-angler bass fishing grand final at Borumba dam, which was held on the 26th and 27th of November.

He won the award fishing against the top thirty grand finalist anglers of the Basstasstic bass fishing competition. This is the second year in a row, Callum has won the award. He had very talented competitors to fish against coming from Rockhampton in the North to Lismore in NSW. All were looking to win the top prize of $2,000 in cash, plus fishing tackle donated by Austackle Australia, a personal handmade wallet made by Trevor’s Leathers, as well as a personalized shirt for the Golden Pro-Angler of the year and the winners trophy.

It was close in points for Callum to win the event with a score of 2349 points. Mark Sheen from Rockhampton gave his best performance to date coming a close second to Callum with a score of 2258 points. Mark won $1,000 in cash plus Austackle tackle and an Eva Kool 65lt Fibreglass Ice box, and a personal Trevor’s Leather key ring with his score on it, plus the Runners up trophy. A close third was Bob Town of Kingaroy, with a score of 2179 points. Bob won $600 in cash plus a winner’s trophy plus fishing tackle donated by Austackle Australia. Fourth place went to Graham Walker of Imbil with a score of 2171 points. Graham won $200 in cash plus a Lowrance coloured Elite-5x sounder. Fifth place was Haydon Raynor of Hervey Bay with a score of 2138. He won $100 in cash, plus a Lowrance Black & White Mark-5 sounder. Sixth place was Greg Green of Mundubbera with a score of 2131. He won an Eva Kool 65lt fibreglass and a Shimano fish landing net. Seventh place went to Peter Truer of Boonah with a score of 2053. Peter won a camping prize of a tent, BBQ, folding chairs and an Eva Kool ice box. Eighth place was Michael Thompson of Stanthorpe with a score 2037, he won a 65lt Fibreglass. Ninth place was Mike Delissor of Brisbane with a score f 2019. Mike won a Shimano Tackle bag, Shimano fish landing net, and lure package plus a 10lt Eva Kool ice box. Tenth place went to Matt Johnson of Brisbane with a score of 1941. Matt won an Eva Kool Xtream green poly ice box. Eleventh place was Jenny Green of Mundubbera with a score of 1933. Jenny won a River2Sea lure package. Twelfth place was Wayne Blundell of Brisbane with a score of 1923. Wayne won an Austackle lure package. Thirteenth place was Russell Nowland of Monto with a score of 1651 he won a Shimano tackle bag and lures. Fourteenth place was Mike Creighton of Boonah with a score of 1611. Mike won a Kokoda shirt and tackle pack. And fifteenth place was Jordon Riddle of Lismore in NSW with score of 1588 Jordon won an Eco Quick Tent.

Big bass for Grand final was Mark Sheen with a 466mm in length bass, he won $100 plus a River2 Sea big bass trophy and an Xtream Eva Kool green poly ice and a Trevor’s leathers personal key ring with the length engraved on it.  Big bass for the year was won by Greg Munro of the Sunshine Coast. He won the prize with a Borumba bass caught in round one of the qualifier rounds measuring 487 to the fork. Greg won a Trophy plus Trevor’s leather’s hand made wallet and an Eva Kool 45lt blue poly ice box.

In the juniors section, Aimee Thompson of Brisbane was the overall winner with a score of 1390. Aimee won an Austackle Australia rod and lure package plus winners trophy. Second place was David Nowland of Monto with a score of 319. David won a Shimano Tackle bag and Shimano lures plus runners up trophy.

All top thirty anglers got to take home a silver plague with this years date and info engraved on them for competing in the grand final. Juniors also got a badge for competing in the Grand final. Angler of the year was won by Mike Delissor of Brisbane he won this award for the most points by an angler over 7 qualifying rounds through-out the year. Mike won a special trophy plus an Austackle Rod and reel, braid, a lure package and an Eva Kool 65lt Fibreglass ice box and one year’s free entry to all qualifying rounds.
